Westshore RFC AGM Called for all members 8pm-20th APR 17

The Board of Directors (BOD) will be calling the annual AGM for Westshore RFC to be held this Thursday 20th Apr at 8pm in the clubhouse. Reports from the various positions will be given by the respective members to outline the past year of operations. A new BOD will be elected during this AGM. All positions listed below are open for anybody to be nominated for them at the AGM. Anyone wishing to run for any BOD positions is asked to please contact Mike Holmes by email at mike@phre.ca. Job description details of any or all positions below may refer to the Manual of Policy on our website at http://westshorerfc.com/…/a…/westshore-rfc-manual-of-policy/ or contact Jay Jimmo directly at angandjay@shaw.ca. The name in brackets identifies a current BOD member wishing to fill that role or wishing to remain in current position, leaving 4 vacancies. Members are encouraged to run for any position including those specified below provided they commit to fulfilling alll of the requirements of the position as stated in the policy manual.

• Secretary (Annie Taal from Social Director)
• Director of Women’s Rugby –(Marlene Donaldson)
• Director of Youth Rugby –(Kelly Hanvey)
• Director Membership/Registration (formerly Sgt-at-Arms) (Jay Jimmo)
• Treasurer (Christel Hume)
• Director of Men’s Rugby –(Vacant…Mike Shelley)
• Faculties & Equipment Manager-Vacant
• Social Director-Vacant
• Advertising/Fundraising Chairperson-Vacant”

In addition Clay Panga will be continuing as Executive Director of the Club and as ex-officio ( i.e. non-voting) member of the BOD.

During the annual banquet on 13th May (GO BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW!!!) Westshore RFC will be handing out our club awards. The Board of Directors (BOD) would like the memberships help in nominating suggested deserving candidates for each of the following 3 awards : Charlton Smith, Parker Johnston and Greg Claque (definitions below). Any nominations can be sent privately by either email to Executive Director-Clay Panga at claypanga@icloud.com or PM. Your submissions will be taken into consideration in making the final decision.

The Members will as usual vote on the winners of the George F Jones award at the AGM on 20th Apr. The BOD is asking members to please give some thought in advance as to who should be the winners (1 male/1female) of this important award.

• GEORGE JONES AWARD; A coveted awarded to active players only who displayed leadership and volunteer work on and off the field to better the club and community above their peers. George Jones himself switched the award from a single recipient to a male and female representative starting 2012.

• CHARLETON SMITH AWARD: Another coveted award for best volunteer work supporting the club and rugby community, to a non-player (possibly).

• GREG CLAGUE AWARD: Awarded to both a male/female representative for displaying tenacity and determination on and off the field. Setting an example for working and succeeding through adversity or injury, and never giving up, while promoting either Westshore Velox RFC and/or rugby, always supporting their team.

• PARKER JOHNSTON JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT AWARD: Awarded to the person or persons with the most impact on the Westshore Velox RFC Junior/Youth programs.
