Westshore RFC has had many NSMT/NSWT members part of our teams over the past many years. With 5-6 current members actively playing for RC. Since coaches go where the talent is, we are lucky to have multiple training sessions with some of Rugby Canada’s finest coaching staff past and present. NSMT member and Women’s team assistant coach Clay Panga, invited NSMT prop Jack Ilnicki for a scrumming session with our Valkyries to improve the juggernaut that our forwards already are. Jake has been with RC since 2013, playing last years RWC, before presently signing a pro contract with San Diego. We have also had former RC Men’s Head Coach from 2008-2016 and ex All Black from 87-91 winning the 1987 RWC; Kieran Crowley out with our women’s team on multiple occasions. The Westshore RFC men’s team were privileged to have Former RC U20 Coach Mike Shelley running a training session. Mike played for England “A” from 2002-03 while captaining Leeds RFC from 2000-05 as a prop and winning the 2005 Powergen Cup in English Premiership.
